Call for Applications: Academic Coordinator

The Research Centre Ukraine (RCU) / Max Weber Foundation invites applications for the full-time position of Academic Coordinator, offered on a fixed-term contract until April 2030. The position is based in Lviv, Ukraine, and is expected to commence as soon as possible.

The appointment forms part of the four-year research project “Rethinking Europe: Ukrainian History as Entangled History”, conducted at the RCU and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). The Academic Coordinator will work at the interface of academic research and project administration, providing strategic and organisational coordination across the project’s research fields.

Your responsibilities

  • Coordinating and overseeing the implementation of the project’s academic programme
  • Co-organising conferences, lectures, workshops, and other academic events
  • Facilitating collaboration and coordination among the project’s researchers and across its research fields
  • Coordinating the dissemination and publication of the project’s research findings
  • Preparation of project-related reports, documentation, and other administrative materials
  • Contributing to the strategic development of the project and the advancement of its research activities

Your qualifications

  • A completed PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in history or a related discipline
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Ukrainian
  • Demonstrable experience in conceptualising and organising workshops, conferences, and other academic events
  • Strong coordination, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines effectively
  • A collaborative and proactive approach, with a willingness to contribute actively to the successful development of the research project
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with scholars and academic partners from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds
