The Research Centre Ukraine (RCU) / Max Weber Foundation invites applications for three full-time postdoctoral research positions, offered on fixed-term contracts until April 2030. The positions are based in Lviv, Ukraine, and are expected to commence as soon as possible.
The appointments form part of the four-year research project ‘Rethinking Europe: Ukrainian History as Entangled History’, based at the RCU and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). The research group explores Ukrainian history through its wider European and global polycentric entanglements. At the same time, the project serves as a forum for methodological and epistemological reflection on how the region might be conceptualised and studied beyond inherited imperial frameworks, categories, and scholarly practices.
The postdoctoral appointments will be affiliated with one of the three research fields:
RF 1: Rethinking Areas: Mobilities and Archives of the Black Sea Region
RF 2: Rethinking Centres & Peripheries: Kyiv – Rome – Istanbul
RF 3: Beyond Minorities: Overlooked Ghettos & Practices of Exclusion
