Call for Applications: Outreach and Communications Officer
The Research Centre Ukraine (RCU) / Max Weber Foundation invites applications for a part-time (50%) position of Outreach and Communication Officer, offered on a fixed-term contract until April 2030. The position is based in Lviv, Ukraine, and is expected to commence as soon as possible.
The appointment forms part of the four-year research project “Rethinking Europe: Ukrainian History as Entangled History”, conducted at the RCU and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR).
The Outreach and Communications Officer will work at the interface of academic research, public engagement and strategic communications. The successful candidate will be responsible for communicating the project’s research, activities and achievements to academic and non-academic audiences, strengthening the project’s public profile, and developing effective channels for disseminating its research findings. Working closely with the project team, the postholder will contribute to the project’s visibility in Ukraine and internationally and help build connections between academic scholarship and wider publics.
Your responsibilities
- Develop and implement a coherent outreach and communications strategy for the research project
- Communicate the project’s research, activities and achievements to academic, professional and wider public audiences
- Develop and maintain the project’s online presence, including its website, social media channels, newsletters, podcasts and other digital platforms
- Identify opportunities to disseminate research findings through appropriate media, public-engagement activities and digital platforms
- Support the promotion and communication of conferences, workshops, lectures, exhibitions and other academic and public events
- Contribute to the visual and editorial presentation of the project, including the preparation of promotional, informational and digital materials
Your qualifications
- A university degree in a related field
- Demonstrated professional experience in communications, public engagement, outreach, journalism or a related field
- Excellent written and spoken English and Ukrainian
- Experience in managing websites, social media channels and other digital communication platforms
- Experience in producing engaging multimedia content, including podcasts, newsletters, visual materials and/or video content
- Experience in planning and promoting academic, cultural or public events
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines independently
- A proactive, creative and collaborative approach to working with researchers and colleagues
